The Latin Mass Society

The Latin Mass Society
.
Promoting Mass in the Extraordinary Form of the Traditional Roman Rite
.
Pope Benedict described the ancient Latin liturgy as 'a precious treasure to be preserved' which is bestowed on the faithful'. Since the publication of Summorum Pontificum seven years ago, this country has gone from having only 8 Latin Mass centres, to over 187 Latin Mass centres in England & Wales. The Latin Mass Society exists to support the development and spread of this form of the Mass, the Extraordinary Form' or 'Traditional Latin Mass'.

Remember that you do not have to speak Latin to attend or appreciate the Latin Mass. If you love, or are simply interested in this form of the Mass, with Latin and dignified and profound ceremony, then the Latin Mass Society puts you are the heart of the movement supporting it. This movement, which involves Catholics embracing their Catholic identity once again, has become known as the New Liturgical Movement.

What do we do?

We organise training for priests and altar servers each year in our training conferences, to enable them to celebrate the Mass and  in the Extraordinary Form.

We help to organise Latin Masses with the aid of our local representatives who can help you bring the Latin Mass to your Catholic Church.

We organise retreat and training days for the laity who are attached to the Latin Mass. We will help foster a love and knowledge of the Latin Mass, as well as support Catholic families, children and young people.

We publish a quarterly Magazine, Mass of Ages which is free to members.

We sponsor a family retreat and a summer school for children, for the many families and children attached to the Extraordinary Form.

We support our members spiritual lives with the Sodality of St. Augustine to unite members' prayers for the conversion of lapsed family and friends, and annual days of recollection.

Our pilgrimages and devotional Events visit the most important shrines of England and Wales, historic Catholic Houses, and Cathedrals.

We organise an annual Confirmation service in the Extraordinary Form in London.
.
We have affiliated groups of servers, singers, and needleworkers and give financial support to their training. You can find out more about the Society of St. Tarcisius (for servers), the Guild of St. Clare (for needleworkers), and the Gregorian Chant Network from out website.
